The man to whom we all owe so much
Therefore two recent visits to
South Wales were especially
encouraging as both West
Wales Raiders in Llanelli and
Torfaen Tigers in Cwmbran
appear to have negotiated
excellent agreements with their
local councils for long term
leases on chosen venues. Oh
that the All Golds could be the
beneficiaries of such largesse!
17
all the associated benefits of
access to facilities and revenue
streams then you are very
vulnerable to the whims of
others.
I had the great pleasure
recently of attending the
Cheltenham Primary Schools’
Touch tournament at the
Folley and what a splendid
occasion it was. It was a great
joy to see some 28 teams of
boys and girls “playing the
ball” in the traditional and
magnificent fashion. The
beautiful weather and very
professional organisation
provided the perfect
backcloth to a memorable
day. Congratulations then to
Dan Garbutt and all his staff
including many impressive
undergraduates of ours.
Finally similar accolades are
due to some of our young
players of the future who
have played so well for our
CLS side this season. Both
Mitchell Dent and Jack Uren
are Bristolians and gained
selection for England Colleges
whilst Gloucester boy Luke
Stephens and Callum Bradbury
from Wolverhampton joined
Jack in making their All Golds’
professional debuts in victory
at Oxford.
