Axios 50 becomes obvious the
minute you lift the pack. It doesn’t
weigh a thing! True, 1.55 kilograms is
very little for a 50-liter trekking backpack.
Designed for short overnight or
weekend treks, the Axios 50 pack has
been stripped of weight in every possible
way. All unnecessary, weight-increasing
components have been eliminated.
A great deal of attention has been
given to comfort and lightness. The wide
backpanel can be easily formed to fit the
user’s back so that the hips carry most
of the load. The shoulder straps seem
narrow at first, but there’s no need to

worry. They do not strain the shoulders
even when carrying a heavy load.
To ensure a good fit, it is worth
spending some time with the backpack’s
basic adjustments. Once they are right,
the Axios 50 carries loads very lightly.
Vertical and horizontal compression
straps make it easy to wrap your gear
into a tight pack that does not swing
around on your back.
The breathable carrying system
keeps the trekker’s back dry even at
fast speeds. The AeroForm backpanel,
hipbelt and shoulder straps are perforated
to ensure good ventilation. Even
the padding lets air through. For once
the manufacturer’s promise of breath-
ability really does hold true!
The biggest compartment can be
opened from either the top or the side.
The smaller front pocket fits items that
might come in handy during the hike.
The pack also features a top pocket with
waterproof zippers. There is a separate
side pocket for a water bottle and a
hydration bladder sleeve inside the
pack.
Once you’ve adjusted and packed the
bag it’s time to head out. The Axios 50
makes trekking so light that even longer
