based on haemoglobin levels and is adjusted for altitude using CDC formulas (CDC 1998). Haemoglobin is measured<br />

in grams per decilitre (g/dl). Severe anaemia is considered to be a haemoglobin level 11.0 g/dl; children 5-11 years: mild anaemia 10.0-11.4 g/dl, no anaemia >11.5 g/dl; children 12-<br />

14 years: mild anaemia 10.0-11.9 g/dl, no anaemia >12.0 g/dl (WHO 2011).<br />
