Youth Workshops:<br />

For delegates aged 13 years – 24 years<br />

Young people will have the opportunity to represent their churches in a youth stream which will run<br />

parallel to the main Symposium proceedings. They will discuss and debate lifestyle issues for Pacific<br />

young people in South Auckland and feedback their solutions to the wider delegation.<br />

Youth Breakout Session One:<br />

Gender Specific Session<br />

<strong>We</strong>dnesday 22nd November, 1.00 pm – 2.30 pm<br />

This session will allow young Pacific people to discuss key lifestyle issues within their gender groups.<br />

Topics for discussion will include: role modelling, self esteem, peer pressure, body composition and<br />

family.<br />

Identity Workshops<br />

<strong>We</strong>dnesday 22nd November, 3.30 pm – 4.45 pm<br />

Identity has been acknowledged as an important issue for Pacific youth with it being closely linked to<br />

connectedness with family, culture and church. This session will explore some of the key identity issues<br />

across the different age groups and what some of the solutions may be to maintain a strong and<br />

positive sense of identity for Pacific young people. Key Questions for discussion will include:<br />

• <strong>What</strong> does identity mean to you?<br />

• <strong>What</strong> do you identify with as a young Pacific person in South Auckland?<br />

• How can your families and churches support you to have a strong and positive sense of identity as<br />

a Pacific young person?<br />
