Girls’ Softball Team Wins<br />

“Triple Crown!”<br />

Section Champions--WPIAL Champions--PIAA State<br />

Champions! 2016 proved to be their year. They worked hard,<br />

played hard, and deserved everything they achieved. This<br />

year’s girls’ softball team went undefeated, setting a school<br />

record of twenty-five (25) victories. Pitcher Morgan Ryan<br />

averaged fourteen strikeouts a game, and with a defense<br />

behind her that she could depend on to field the balls that were<br />

hit, made for a great team. When you meet the players and<br />

talk to them, you know instantly that they are a team, united<br />

together. They have each other’s backs and support each<br />

other, which contributes to building a winning team. The last<br />

time Head Coach, Bob Kalp, coached his team to a state<br />

championship was seventeen years ago. The work ethic that<br />

he instills in his players, the amount of time he puts into the<br />

program, and the way he pushes them to do their very best, is<br />

all part of creating a winning team. Congratulations to the girls’<br />

softball team and their coaches, Bob Kalp, Richard Albright,<br />

Jenna Keefer, Brittany Fenn, Matt Knizner, Ray Mello, John<br />

Sherrow, and Stefanie Wiegand, , on a very deserving run to<br />

become the 2016 state champions! We are all so proud of you.<br />

HASD Athletic Website Revamped<br />

During the 2015-2016 school year, the Hempfield Area School District enjoyed<br />

many great individual and team sports performances – and provided a completely<br />

redesigned Athletic Department website to highlight and communicate those<br />

accomplishments. Now that all information is complete and current, township<br />

residents are encouraged to visit http://www.hasdpa.net/athletics. The main page<br />

of the website features a slideshow of action photos, quick links to athletic-related<br />

websites, a calendar of daily events, and tweets posted by the Hempfield Area<br />

Athletic Department (follow us on Twitter @HASDathletics). In addition, the<br />

subpages include schedules, rosters, results (for varsity sports only), and a team<br />

photo for every team and cheerleading group. Managed by Steve Miller, we are<br />

extremely proud of this website and encourage everybody to visit it often to keep<br />

up to date with the sports accomplishments at Hempfield Area.<br />
