Behaviour & Sanctions:
Definition Of Terms **
Letter of Warning:
The student will receive a letter delivered by the Assistant Director and/or Head Don
informing the student that his or her behaviour is not acceptable in residence. The letter
will further inform the student that another disciplinary problem will result in a more
serious sanction and/or applicable fine.
On Notice:
The student On Notice is two infractions away from the termination of his or her Residence
Contract. Any kind of further offence will change the student’s status to On Probation.
Serious infractions may result in skipping the On Probation status, and proceeding directly
to Termination of Residence Contract.
Applicable Fine:
The Assistant Director will assign the student a fine for his or her behaviour, and/or
the full price of any damages or cleaning costs. Repeat offences may result in increased
fine amounts.
On Probation:
Any kind of further offence (Category 1 or 2 or Code of Rights and Responsibilities) will
result in eviction.
Suspensions:
In certain circumstances, the College may impose a residence suspension, in which you
are temporarily banned from the residences for a defined period of time, after which you
are eligible to return. Conditions for readmission may be specified. You will be denied
access to any of the residences and their grounds during the suspension. If you violate
the suspension, you will be charged under the Trespass to Property Act. All regular
residence fees and charges will apply throughout the suspension period.
Alcohol Probation:
The student who demonstrates excessive consumption of alcohol may be placed on Alcohol
Probation. The Director of Housing and Organizational Services reserves the right to contact
the student’s parents to inform them of the incident concerned. The student will be allowed
48 hours to contact his/her parents before the Director makes contact. The length of
the Alcohol Probation will be at the discretion of the Assistant Director. During the period
of Alcohol Probation, the student must not be under the influence of alcohol or have any
alcohol or alcohol paraphernalia in their residence room.
