Vintage Fairground
Set of three abreast Gallopers. These Steam driven
gallopers, built in 1898, have been in the Downs’ family
of Wickham Bishops for three generations. David’s
grandfather Allan Downs originally purchased the
Gallopers in 1940. Allan’s son John took over in 1960 and
now David has looked after them since 1992. David travels
all over the country to shows, weddings and parties with
the gallopers, which are one of the few remaining that are
still steam powered. They require a lot of work to keep them
in good condition and up to Health & Safety Standards.
