Southend Model Boat Club
Southend Model Boat Club will again
be hosting the model boating event at
the show this year. Our display, both in
the marquee and on the lake, will be
supported by around 10 different clubs
and associations from around the south
east of England, most of who welcome
new members. We will have on display
several hundred model boats, including
highly detailed naval vessels, fishing
boats, tugs, Thames Sailing Barges,
racing yachts and fast electric power
boats. The models may be seen in action
on the lake throughout the day.
If you’re interested in getting started in the
hobby of building and operating radio
controlled model boats this is an ideal
opportunity to find a local club and chat
with a lot of active model builders, all
of whom are very happy to share their
knowledge and experience that can
avoid you making expensive mistakes.
Our own club has been established
since 1948 and we meet regularly at
Southchurch Park Lake, just off the
Southend sea front near the Castle pub;
for sat-nav users: SS1 2SX will take you to
the gate. We also have bi-monthly social
meetings at the Royal Naval Association
Club in East Street Southend. You can
contact us and find out more about our
club through our website at:
www.smpbc.co.uk, or better still come
along and meet us for a chat.
