Cardiac and Vascular
Care Center – Leadership,
Physicians & Technology
Investing nearly $3 million in life-saving
cardiac and limb-saving catheterization
technologies, Saint Mary’s boasts two
state-of-the-art Cardiac Catheterization
Labs for diagnostic and interventional
cardiovascular and vascular
procedures.
Heart disease kills more people than
any other disease and continues to be
the No. 1 cause of deaths in Arkansas
and accounts for about 26% of deaths
each year in our state. Saint Mary’s has
assembled a dedicated team of cardiac
specialists and cardiologists devoted to
dramatically decreasing this statistic.
The highly-trained group of boardcertified
cardiologists include
Medical Director, Dr. Sastry Prayaga
and Dr. Ravishankar Kalaga, both
interventional cardiologists, plus Drs.
Dai-Yuan Wang and Shuja Rasool,
invasive cardiologists. Together, these
physicians bring the latest cardiac
and vascular care to the people of the

Improved efficiencies in the
Emergency Department
Saint Mary’s Emergency Department
provides care to almost 30,000
patients each year. To better serve
the growing populations, Saint Mary’s
has implemented Lean processes to
improve the patient’s experience and
care in the Emergency Department.
An urgent care track has also been
added for those patients with less
acuity. As a result of these measures,
wait times and length of stay times
have significantly decreased. “We
are working diligently to prepare for
the anticipated influx of patients we
expect after the first of the year,”
explained Carol Gore, Saint Mary’s
Chief Nursing Officer. “It’s about far
more than providing faster care to
more people. Our focus is on providing
better, safer care and our “A” ranking
for patient safety is evidence of that.”
Millard-Henry Clinic to offer
additional access
Millard-Henry Clinic, part of the
Saint Mary’s clinical network, is one
of the largest multi-specialty clinics
in Arkansas. Built at a cost of $6.2
million, the new three-story, 48,000
square foot, patient-friendly building
is designed to promote more efficient
patient access and optimize patient
wait time. This translates into more
available appointments and reduced
wait times for patients. The clinic
houses 30 medical practices including
specialties in Internal Medicine, Family
Practice, Pediatrics, Pulmonology,
General and Reconstructive Surgery.

In addition to traditional appointments
with a primary care physician,
Millard-Henry will expand its hours
of operation and offer an immediate
access clinic with hours from 8:00am
– 8:00pm. No appointment will be
necessary. Patients will be seen on a
first come – first serve basis. Patients
can expect to take advantage of this
new offering in early 2016.
