MAID-RITE
Way back in 1926, in a faraway place called Muscatine, Iowa,
Fred Angell, a local butcher, had some spare time one day.
Without the internet and ESPN and Facebook, Fred used his
spare time to create a new sandwich that would quickly
become a local favorite and later a favorite across the
midwestern states. Fred worked to get the right combination of
a special cut and grind of meat and a selected blend of spices.
When a deliveryman tasted Fred’s new creation, he said, “This
sandwich is made right.”
With that, the Maid-Rite loose-meat sandwich was born. Fred
was quite a sandwich maker but not much of a speller.
Our select line of seasoned loose meat sandwiches are made
from 100% USDA Midwestern fresh ground beef and served
on a steamed white or wheat bun, with your choice of ketchup,
mustard, onion and pickles.
Did you know that the “loose meat” hamburgs featured at Maid-Rite
originated in Muscatine, Iowa way back in 1926...?? (YES...hamburgs, not
hamburgers”)
Did you know that in addition to the loose meat sandwiches they are famous
for, that Maid-Rite also smokes all their chicken, turkey and pork fresh and
in-house for their other sandwiches, wraps and salads...??
Did you know that the Layton Maid-Rite Diner features delicious shakes
and malts and Italian sodas...???
The first Maid-Rite in Utah opened on March 21, 2012, and
Scott and Celina proudly share their Midwest-style sandwiches,
soups, wraps, salads, shakes and malts with the great folks
along the Wasatch Front. Scott grew up in the Midwest eating
Maid-Rite sandwiches, and his father, William, worked at a
Maid-Rite Diner in Tama, Iowa, before his army days in the
second World War. Scott and Celina, Layton residents, invite all
Utahns to discover the “Maid-Rite” sandwich and learn what
all Midwesterners know...that Maid-Rites are delicious!!!
Did you know that Maid-Rite Diners have existed since 1926 and are the
second oldest restaurant franchise in the United States....??
Did you know that the Layton Utah Maid-Rite Diner is the only one in
Utah and the furthest west Maid-Rite in the franchise...??
Did you know that Maid-Rite Diners are found in 12 states and that there
are over 80 stores...??
