<strong>Evaluation</strong> <strong>of</strong> biology, medicine and health <strong>research</strong> in Norway (2011)<br />

directly using numbers <strong>of</strong> peer-reviewed <strong>research</strong> papers, numbers <strong>of</strong> students, or by<br />

impact factor. Similarly, <strong>units</strong> located in museums have a unique mandate that includes<br />

education and public outreach. The Panel appreciated these issues and noted that the time<br />

allocated to <strong>research</strong> varied among groups and institutions. For the next evaluation, the<br />

Panel recommends that a clearer indication is given <strong>of</strong> the approximate percentage <strong>of</strong><br />

time that each unit allocates to <strong>research</strong> versus service and/or outreach.<br />
