‘Grand Sport: (right) ‘1939 24 Heures du Mans’: highly evocative depiction in oil<br />
on canvas, of the start of the final Le Mans endurance race, staged on June 17 th /18 th<br />
1939, before the advent of World War Two. The all-conquering supercharged Bugatti<br />
Type 57c ‘Tank’ was piloted by Jean-Pierre Wimille and Pierre Veyron (pictured to<br />
the foreground), later key members of the Resistance in Occupied France. Signed<br />
A.L’ami G. Muller and dated 1939. Mounted in a black gloss frame with patterned<br />
