Swaffham Community Hospital LofF
Catching up on past events. On September 3rd
we held our annual street collection in Swaffham
and raised over £500 for hospital funds. Thanks
go to all our volunteers who helped on the day.
Also to our Treasurer (Wendy) who sat in the
office and accounted for all the boxes. Finally
thanks to Ward Gethin and staff for the use of
there offices that day.
On Sept 10th we held a garden fete at the Hospital.
We had hoped to be outside but the weather
was against us. Such a Fete has not been held for
some time but with the help of our volunteers,
organisations such as the Lionesses and the staff
of the hospital, we decided to give it a go. The
Mayor opened proceedings and a variety of stalls,
games, competitions, books stall, tombola, bric
a brac kept those attending busy whilst the staff
served refreshments. It was particularly pleasing
that it was possible to get some of the patients
involved. It certainly made for a different day. We
raised the sum of £500. Thanks to all those who
donated items. Also that afternoon we unveiled
a commemorative bench for a member of the
“Wilson” family. Many members of the family
attended and chose a place in the garden to
position it.
Our next event is another Coffee morning at the
Methodist church on Saturday 12th November, We
were very pleased with the support at the last one,
so do please come and join us again.
The League has available our own (charity) Xmas
cards If you are interested please contact any of the
committee or pick some up at any of our events.
As I have mentioned before we are always holding
events and raffles. If you have any unwanted items
that you would like to donate then they can either
be dropped off at Hospital reception or give me a
ring and I can collect. In a future newsletter I plan
to include more details about the range of services
available at our Hospital. It is a great benefit not to
always have to travel to Lynn or Norwich.
Finally news about our long awaited new hospital
entrance. The Hospital Estates department has had to
review the original plan. The new separate entrance
will now not be built and they are submitting revised
plans to improve the existing main entrance. This
is partly because the space available is too tight for
the Ambulances. As soon as I get more information/
plans I can update you with more details. We are
disappointed with the delay but hope it will still
prove to be a great new facility.
