Welcome to your Careers Guide! It’s packed full of general

career paths and handy signposts to what you can do while
you’re still at Oxford to get some relevant experience under
your belt.
OUSU works with The Careers Service to make sure Oxford
students are equipped with the skills and experience that will
best prepare them to enter the working world. You can work
to improve our student-community relations by becoming
one of our Community Wardens, write for the Oxford Student
newspaper, host a slot on OUSU’s Oxide radio station,
campaign for scholarships for refugee students with our
Oxford Student’s Refugee Campaign, and so much more.
There are loads of ways to get involved in our work at the
Students’ Union which will develop the skills you need for a

what contribution you could make to student life at Oxford.
While I was studying, I found navigating intern and career
applications daunting. Oxford graduates are some of the
world’s best, but sometimes it hard to see past the traditional

also so many other options available– from the charity sector

guide!
I work at OUSU, representing Oxford students, campaigning
on key issues, and improving the student experience at our
University. I’m learning so much and working on a really
diverse range of projects. Working for students is such a

opportunity to give back to the student and local community.
Don’t forget you have the opportunity to involved in our
elections in Hilary Term and play your part in improving life
for students here at Oxford.
Enjoy and make use of this guide – it’s a brilliant resource. If
you’re still feelings lost don’t forget you can always ask The
Careers Service for more advice throughout your degree,
and even after you leave – alumni are welcome to get in
touch at any point in their career. So get stuck in, but, most
importantly, don’t worry if you’re not sure what you want to
do – most of us are in the same position!
