houses, theatres, the music industry, performing companies, venues, historic sites – and
many specialist organisations.
This sector covers a huge range of roles, from artistic (designers, performers, artists, writers)
to ‘arts management/administration’ requiring organisational, operational and leadership
skills. Other roles use research or academic skills (‘curatorial and specialist’ jobs), involve
teaching or training (‘arts education’) or technical skills (eg, fashion or set design; art
