INTO A GREAT fAMILy fOR DU SOLEIL STUD
#63 f12 Amer & Al Hanoof,
by Manganate €100,000
Purchaser: Haras du Saubouas
Vendor: Haras du Grand Courgeon
Breeder: Sheikh Abdullah bin Khalifa Al Thani
Rahab (Amer), lot 63, was consigned by Haras du Grand
Courgeon. This broodmare, in foal to Munjiz, is unraced.
However her pedigree is one of the best in the Purebred
Arabian stud-book. She is the full sister of Al Dahma (Amer)
and General. These champions, bred by His Highness Sheikh
Abdullah bin Khalifa Al Thani, have a total between them of
thirty-five victories inclusive twenty-one at Gr. I PA level. Al
Dahma won the Coupe d’Europe des Chevaux Arabes (Gr. I
PA) three times and General won the Qatar Arabian World
Cup (Gr. I PA) twice. Pesennaia (Naftalin), the second dam,
was a very good racemare in Russia where she won the Oaks
before being placed second in the local Derby. The ticket was
signed by Haras du Saubouas. The mare was bought for Lisa
and Pierre Deymonaz of Du Soleil Stud. Lisa Deymonaz
explained: “We bought her as it was an opportunity to have a
mare with an exceptional pedigree. She is the full lister to two
champions. For her future matings we will wait to see her foal
by Munjiz, to have an idea of which stallion will suit her best.
Rahab will board with Paul Basquin at Haras du Saubouas.
Next year, she will go to Emmanuel Cessac, at Haras de
Thouars, to foal and for the covering season.” General, the
full brother to Rahab, stands at Haras du Grand Courgeon.
His first crop has had an encouraging start on the track. At
Saint-Cloud, he was represented by five lots, three of whom
were sold, including one at €85,000. A 2 year old was bought
back at €180,000.
DIRECTION QATAR fOR TEKfIR
#85 M4 Njewman & Djourella,
by Kerbella €95,000
Purchaser: Chantilly Bloodstock Agency
Vendor: Małgorzata Łojek
Breeder: Haras de Mandore
Tekfir (Njewman), lot 85, was a wild card entry to the
catalogue. Bred by Haras de Mandore, he passed through
this sale ring for the first time in 2014. He was a 2 year old,
and he was sold for €16,000. The colt then went to Poland
where he won seven races, including one Gr. III PA. Gérard
Larrieu signed for him. He explained: “He was at a fair price.
He will go with Qatar.” He is out of a sister to Djourdan
(Dormane), two-time Gr. I PA winner abroad. His third dam is
the famous Cherifa (Chéri Bibi).
Haras de Mandore was the top vendor, making up for almost
a third of the total aggregate of the session. Jean-Marc de
Watrigant explained: “We had several clients who wanted to
buy fillies and mares privately. This Arqana sale, organized in
partnership with Afac, also helps to finance the organisation.
So we decided to bring our horses to the sale. These sales
represent decades of work for our stud. The buyers can find
150 years of selection in the fall of the hammer. The horses
bred by Haras de Mandore have won more than 40 Group 1
PAs, in testament to the strength of our bloodstock, but also
to the passion in our family for the Purebred Arabian.”
