Locals dominate first phase

The local players dominated the
first phase of the fourth edition
of Bangladesh Premier League as
Dhaka Dynamites, Barisal Bulls
and Khulna Titans jointly lead
the points table having three wins
from four matches. The tournament
shifts to Chittagong from
Thursday.
Holders Comilla Victorians had
the worst possible start where
Mahsrafe bin Mortaza and his
troop were totally out of track
losing all the four games so far.
Similarly, despite captain Tamim
Iqbal’s good form with the bat
Chittagong Vikings struggled and
managed to win only one game
out of their four attempts.
On the other hand, Naeem Islam’s
Rangpur Riders started with
a bang winning their first two
games then lost to Dhaka convincingly
before went down to
Rajshahi Kings who managed to
win a game in three matches will
look to step up the gas in the coming
days.

with Mahmudullah.
Mohammad Shahid also leads
the chart alongside Shafiul with
eight wickets from four matches
including the best bowling figure
of 3/21 on their opening encounter
of the tournament against Barisal.
However rain and pitch has
been the center of all and after
the restart of the tournament due
to weather the Sher-e-Bangla National
stadium’s wicket provided
couple of low scoring games before
it changed in the latter part
of the first phase with the highest
total of 194/5 by Dhaka against
Comilla.•
