NHS staff have a very special place in the hearts
of most families. And this is nowhere more so
than in and around Nottingham.
More than 14,000 nurses, doctors and other
healthcare staff work for NUH – and they are
among the most caring and compassionate
individuals you could ever hope to meet.
This is why The Post is very proud to support
a set of annual awards that gives these true
professionals a richly-deserved pat on the back.
As regular readers of The Post will know,
the last 12 months have been particularly
challenging for our local hospitals. But this
shouldn’t colour the fact that the staff who
keep our hospitals running, 24 hours a day,
365 days a year, have – as always – performed
brilliantly.
And they continue to perform brilliantly. Their
skill and hard work is worthy of the highest
praise. We are indeed lucky to have such a
dedicated band of healthcare professionals
always on-call to look after us.
These awards showcase the care and
compassion that they show, every day, in our
hospitals and in the community.
It’s difficult to read the stories of the award
nominees without feeling an overwhelming
sense of gratitude.
In recent years, I’ve been privileged to help
judge the annual Nottingham Nurse and
Midwife of the Year contest – so I know the
great respect and affection that patients have
for NUH staff.
Their attitude is impeccable. Their desire to
make a difference is unrelenting. Patients and
their families are hugely grateful.
So on behalf of those patients and families
– and of everyone who uses our local NHS
services – The Post wants to say thank you to
NUH staff.
Thank you for your care. Thank you for your
professionalism. Thank you for being there
when we need you.
