Airport transfers<br />

City Airport Train<br />

A journey on the City Airport Train (CAT)<br />

from the Vienna International Airport <strong>to</strong> the<br />

City Air Terminal only takes 16 minutes.<br />

The fare is € 8,00 for a one-way ticket if you<br />

pre-book online at www.citytrain.com.<br />

Taxis<br />

Taxis are available from in front of the<br />

airport arrival hall. The price <strong>to</strong> the city is<br />

approximately € 30,00.<br />

Insurance<br />

You are advised <strong>to</strong> arrange your own travel<br />

insurance <strong>to</strong> cover medical expenses and<br />

all other risks. IWA and IAWD will not be<br />

held liable for damage or loss of luggage<br />

or personal belongings or for injury, loss or<br />

damage of any nature caused <strong>to</strong> participants.<br />

Currency<br />

The Austrian currency is the Euro “€”.<br />

Shopping<br />

Shops are open on weekdays from 9.00 am<br />

<strong>to</strong> 6.00 pm and some shops are open<br />

until 8.00 pm on Thursday or Friday.<br />

On Saturday most shops are open from<br />

9.00 am <strong>to</strong> 1.00 pm, with larger shops and<br />

malls opening until 5.00 pm. With very few<br />

exceptions, shops are closed on Sundays.<br />

Weather<br />

Vienna’s temperature in late summer ranges<br />

from 15°C <strong>to</strong> 25°C.<br />

Electricity<br />

The main voltage in Austria is 220 V AC.<br />

Connec<strong>to</strong>r plugs and outlets correspond<br />

generally <strong>to</strong> the Euro-norm, but as a<br />

precaution bring along an adap<strong>to</strong>r.<br />

Official language<br />

English is the official language for the<br />

congress. However, the opening ceremony<br />

and selected presentations will be given in<br />

German, with simultaneous translation in<strong>to</strong><br />

English.<br />

Public transport<br />

Vienna boasts a modern, efficient public<br />

transport system consisting of tramways,<br />

underground (U-Bahn), city railway<br />

(Schnellbahn, S-Bahn) and buses. Almost<br />

all hotels have easy access <strong>to</strong> the public<br />

transport system.<br />

All delegates will receive a ticket which is<br />

valid for the whole time of the congress<br />

giving you free access <strong>to</strong> Vienna’s public<br />

transport system.<br />

There will be no shuttle service from<br />

hotels <strong>to</strong> the conference venue; so you are<br />

requested <strong>to</strong> use public transport.<br />
