The global winners of the prestigious IWA<br />

Project Innovation Awards (PIA) will be<br />

announced at this exclusive dinner <strong>to</strong> be<br />

held in the Palais Ferstel, one of Vienna’s<br />

grandest and architecturally interesting<br />

buildings located in the his<strong>to</strong>ric first district.<br />

In keeping with IWA’s mission of connecting<br />

water professionals worldwide <strong>to</strong> lead the<br />

development of effective and sustainable<br />

approaches <strong>to</strong> water management, the<br />

IWA Project Innovation Awards recognise<br />

excellence and innovation in water<br />

engineering projects throughout the world.<br />

The Chair of the Global Judging Panel,<br />

William Dee, will present highlights of the<br />

nominees’ world-class innovative projects<br />

before announcing the global and overall<br />

winners.<br />

The Project Innovation Awards are<br />

sponsored by Black & Veatch, GHD, Kiwa<br />

Water Research, Malcolm Pirnie Inc, MWH<br />

and SKM.<br />

Another special kind of innovation is in<br />

the area of utilities communications. IWA<br />

vienna<br />

will also present the IWA Marketing and<br />

Communications Award 2008 at the dinner.<br />

The purposes of this award are <strong>to</strong> enhance<br />

an integrated and sustainable view on<br />

water and heighten awareness among<br />

water utilities worldwide of the increasing<br />

importance of establishing professional<br />

and effective communications with users of<br />

water and wastewater services.<br />

Gala night<br />

Thursday 11 September<br />

7.00 pm <strong>to</strong> early hours of the morning<br />

Vienna City Hall, 1010 Vienna, Rathausplatz<br />

Dress: Business attire or national costume<br />

The congress will conclude with a gala night<br />

unlike any other. To be held in Vienna City<br />

Hall, one of the Austrian capital’s bestknown<br />

architectural landmarks and the<br />

seat of power in the city, the gala night will<br />

be a feast of buffet-style food, drink, music<br />

and dancing spread across all the function<br />

rooms and the arcade courtyard.<br />

You will be able <strong>to</strong> sample a variety of<br />

tastes representing various cuisines from<br />

the Danube region. The entertainment will<br />

range from classic-style waltz <strong>to</strong> midnight<br />

clubbing.<br />

Attendance at the gala night is included in<br />

most registration types (see the first page of<br />

the registration form for details). Extra tickets<br />

are available for € 100,00 excluding VAT of<br />

20%. Booking is via the registration form or<br />

online.<br />
