“Colour-wise, blonde highlights and ash tones are still on-trend. This time
of the year we see more richer warmer browns and coppers added into
highlights for a more autumnal feel. With the heating now on full whack
you will notice your hair becomes much drier, so it’s important to keep
moisture in the hair. I love L’Oréal’s Mythic Oil as it’s great for all hair
types and adds moisture to the hair without a heavy greasy feeling.
GHD tongs are amazing to create those party curls and I do a lot of
curling and up-dos over the festive period. When using heat styling
products, don’t forget to use heat protection to help keep your hair
healthy. I love Redken’s One United Multi-Benefit Treatment.
It’s got 25 benefits and is an amazing heat protector and all-rounder!”
Makeup Must-Haves
“One of my favourite looks for New Year’s Eve is Hollywood glamour with
gold eyeshadows, black eyeliner, voluminous lashes and striking red lips.
Match some deep browns, greys or black with a touch of sparkle. You can
adapt the smokey look with subtle shades or go for the more dramatic look.
My absolute must-haves are Boots Time Delay Radiance
Booster. It’s the perfect primer under makeup. I always
use MAC’s Pro Longwear Paint Pot in ‘Painterly’ on
top of the eyelids. This product creates the perfect
base for your eyeshadow to hold onto meaning there
will be no creasing or smudging. To finish your look, use
Urban Decay ‘All Nighter’. This setting mist will make
your makeup stay on all night. My final tip would be to
allow enough time to do your makeup. Don’t be in a rush to
get it done!” Kelly Mackay, The Beauty Bar, Cambridge
