Parish Plan - Action Group Update The Parish Plan Group are looking for a new Secretary to take over the role from Helen Weight. If anyone wishes to find out what the role entails they can contact Helen on 07530 895677 or the group’s Chair Pete Higson on pete.s.higgy@btinternet.com on 0161 775 2802. Look of the Parish Action Group Planters around the Parish have added Summer colour thanks to the group’s volunteers who have been pruning, watering, planting and maintaining these. Litter is an ongoing problem, but is much improved thanks to the regular Parish Litter Picks. The next one is Saturday 11th February, meeting at the Black Swan at 10am - see p.17 for details. More hands are needed so please support this if you can. The group continues to help address dog fouling by providing doggy bags - see p.20 for how to report incidents of dog fouling. Getting Around Action Group Following a request by the Group, a recent traffic survey was carried out on Glazebrook Lane which highlighted a substantial number of vehicles travelling over and above the police enforcement speeds. The outcome is that 9 new 30mph camera signs will be erected from the A57 traffic lights all through the village to Woolden Road. As a result of the survey the Police are also looking at specific places and times to locate mobile radar cameras along the lane. On the cycling front, the Group continue to attend East Neighbourhood Meetings to push for proposed cycle routes along the A57. Recreation & Leisure Action Group A guided ‘Winter Walk’ within the Parish is being organised by the Group for Sunday 8th January - see p.16 or details. Everyone most welcome. Social and Community Action Group The Parish Plan Group could use the IT skills of a young volunteer to assist with social media and group mail shots. If you are interested in lending a hand and want some volunteering experience to add to your CV, please get in touch - contacts below. COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT Time to get involved? The following would welcome your help. Hollins Green Community Shop is a not for profit shop managed by a small team of staff and supported by several local volunteers. This important village amenity needs continuous community support in order to succeed. It is never too late to offer your services - simply contact shop manager Julie Atkinson on 0161 775 7022 or email hollinsgreenshop@gmail.com or pop into the shop, 533 Manchester Road, WA3 6JU for a chat or to pick up a volunteer form. Friends of Hollinfare Cemetery aim to make the cemetery a place in the community that we are all proud of. Volunteers are most welcome. All equipment is supplied - simply turn up on any of the action days between 10am - 1pm (see p.14 -17 for dates) or contact Pete Higson on 0161 775 2802 or email pete.s.higgy@btinternet.com. The Friends also offer a Grave Tending Scheme for relatives of the bereaved who are unable to tend their loved ones graves. For more information contact Sheila Breese on 0161 775 5640. Glazebrook Residents’ Action Group take up causes to promote the interests of Glazebrook and the village environment and host community events on Glazebrook Village Green.
