Health, Safety, Environmental Protection
and Quality (HSEQ) Management Systems
Bayer has established appropriate management systems to ensure a consistently high standard of health,
safety, environmental protection and quality (HSEQ). As well as complying with legal and other requirements
in these matters, the company is determined that these integrated HSEQ management systems should be
effective and efficient. Continuous improvement of these systems is undertaken as a responsibility assigned
by the companyûs Values and Leadership Principles, the guidelines of the Bayer Sustainable Development
Policy, the Responsible Care Global Charter and the United Nations Global Compact.
HSEQ management systems
Bayerûs Map Ta Phut site received ISO 9001 (recertified on 09-01-2009, valid until 08-01-2012)
and ISO 14001 (recertified on 09-01-2009, valid until 08-01-2012) certifications in 1998 and
OHSAS 18001 (recertified on 09-02-2009, valid until 08-02-2012) certification in 2000.
Our laboratory has also been certified and accredited by the Thai Industrial Standards Institute (TISI)
based on ISO/IEC 17025 (recertified on 11-06-2007, valid until 10-06-2010).
Under these international standard management systems, we have demonstrated our commitment to continuous
improvement of quality and environmental protection, efficient utilization of energy and resources, and care
for the health and safety of our employees and others, both in the workplace and in surrounding communities.
Since polycarbonates are intended for use as finished products to come into contact with food or to be used
in medical applications, Bayer policy clearly identifies that the products must be manufactured globally under
a controlled system for managing quality to ensure they meet appropriate specifications and are consistently
produced in accordance with quality standard of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) appropriate for
their intended use.
Bayerûs Bangpoo site received a Good Manufacturing Practices Standard (GMP) certificate (recertified
on 09-02-2010, valid until 08-02-2013) in 1999 from the Food and Drug Administration of the
Ministry of Public Health. Bayer was the first company in Thailand to receive this certificate for
harzadous substances.
The Bangpoo site also received ISO 14001 (recertified on 06-04-2009, valid until 28-03-2012) and
OHSAS 18001 (recertified on 15-07-2009, valid until 29-03-2012) certifications in 2001 and
2006, respectively. The site has consistently maintained and improved its management systems on
Health, Safety, Environmental Protection and Quality, following Bayerûs policies.
BaySystems ASEAN in Bangpoo site has been also certified by TUV NORD for ISO 9001 : 2008
(issued on 24-11-2008, valid until 03-12-2011) with the scope of Formulation Design, Manufacturing,
Import and Export of Materials for Polyurethane Products since November 2009.
Integrated HSEQ Management System: Core Processes
As well as the integrated management systems described above and the companyûs Responsible Care program,
the Map Ta Phut site has been actively implementing Core Processes (CP), a global management system
