THE King parkrun kicked off in
style this past Saturday with a
few visitors from EL and Stutt
but the big surprize and pleasure
was having two International
visitors from Germany/England
.
Even more amazing was the
amount of parkruns to their
names .
David Venter has done a staggering
314 parkruns in total. He has
attended 85 different parkruns
all over the world over a period
of 8 years.
'He has also volunteered on
numerous occasions and has has
a personal best time of 20.08
minutes,' said King parkrun
director, Mike Webb.
His partner, Ingrid Wagner has
done 316 runs also over 90
parkruns also all over the world!
'She is also a regular volunteer,'
added Mike.
David came in to finish in a time
of 25.53 in 8th position with
Ingrid in 29.34 (2nd lady home)
.
'What was really special was that
after their runs they stayed on
and cheered in our local runners
as well!
'True spirit of parkrun,' said Mike.
THE BUGLE FRIDAY 13 JANUARY 2017
Parkrun 2017 kicks off with an international flavour
INTERNATIONAL FLAVOUR: King parkrun director Mike Webb (left) with David
Venter and Ingrid Wagner who competed in last Saturdays King parkrun
and Kim Williams proved that
the festive season break did no
harm to them, winning their
categories.
'Overall we had ten personal best
times at our first parkrun for
2017,' said Mike.
Many new and 'long time no see'
runners were out on the course
this Saturday and this bodes well
for the year .
'Well done to all and lets make
parkrun King grow to new
heights this year!
'We would like to extend a big
thanks to all our volunteers for
their assistance over the last 45
runs.
'Special mention needs to be
made of Tony Garde who came
out on Christmas Eve and New
Years Eve and ran the route solo
for the fun of it.... as he said.
'He came in '1st , 2nd and
3rd both times,' joked Mike.
Also a huge thanks to our faithful
Water station lady Jill Jakob who
fell and broke her wrist just after
Christmas and was out there on
Saturday to assist as always
A big thanks must also go to Red
Alert who have agreed to station
a reaction unit at the parkrun
every week free of charge .'See
you all again on Saturday,'
concluded Mike.
