Keep feathered friends happy this winter
with an easy-to-make birdhouse feeder
Materials:
n 1 pack standard-size lollipop sticks
n 1 extra-large lollipop stick (both
available from www.docrafts.com)
n Tacky glue
n Sharp scissors
n Natural jute string
n Bird seed

1Line up 11
standard-sized
lollipop sticks sideby-side.
Apply some
tacky glue to an
additional two and
place across the ends
of the lined-up sticks
to create a base for
the feeder. Cut the
extra-large lollipop
stick in half and glue
to each side of the
base, forming two
perches for the birds.
2Build the walls
of the feeder by
overlapping sticks on
each side, gluing in
place at the corners.
Continue adding
layers until the feeder
is at your desired
height.
3To make the roof,
lie 11 sticks sideby-side.
Trim three
more sticks to make
a straight edge. Glue
these to the middle
and both ends of the
lined-up sticks. Create
a second roof panel
and, when dry, glue
the panels together
on the top of the
feeder. Glue one stick
along the top to give
a neat finish.
4Cut four equal
lengths of
natural jute string.
Tie each piece to
the four corners of
the birdfeeder, then
bring the loose ends
together and tie in a
knot. Fill the feeder
with bird seed and
hang on a branch.
