Our Voice
to Live

Our Voice to Live is a Gloucestershire network of young people with
disabilities or additional needs who join together to share experiences,
have their voices heard and influence changes to service provision
across Gloucestershire.
Allsorts worked closely with National
Star College to initiate and support this
network and are excited to be supporting
the forthcoming Our Voice to Live event,
the third of its kind.
In February a large gathering of 16-25
year olds will join together at National
Star College, Cheltenham. The young
people are planning a full day of activities
and discussions: They’ll hear from others
with disabilities about their experiences
of the workplace, apprenticeships and
volunteering; conduct a survey to gather
information about what issues and
concerns their peers face; create a record
of the day on film; and try out some
fun craft and sports activities. Students
from sixth forms and colleges across
Gloucestershire are invited, and 16-25
year olds who have left education can
contact us to book their place.
College; Inclusion Gloucestershire’s drama
project with younger age groups; Allsorts’
creation of a part time paid project
assistant post for a young person with a
disability; and ongoing work to create a
personal assistant register. We hope that
this is just the beginning and that the
list of changes keeps on growing as the
network strengthens and develops.
