Welcome to The Mill
We are fast approaching 2017 which
promises to be one of the most
exciting years at The Mill yet.
We are thrilled with the success of our Season of Dance
project and are delighted to be working in partnership
with Dancin’ Oxford for the first time in March 2016
to bring you Nearly There Yet’s, The Party, a dance and
circus extravaganza for all the family. Look out for the
thought-provoking Bound from Oxford based company
Justice in Motion, a dance and physical theatre piece to
inspire and challenge in equal measure.
For music lovers, the year gets off to a great start with
Los Pacominos featuring Paul Young whilst, back by
popular demand, are the brilliant Los Endos with their
tribute to Genesis. We haven’t forgotten about comedy
and are thrilled to welcome the brilliant Zoe Lyons to
The Mill for the first time.
As for exciting opportunities to get involved in, we
are delighted to announce that Creation Theatre will
be running A Play in a Week for 8-12 year olds during
February half term. We have a brand new book club
starting in February and Creative Writing is now part
of the programme of classes with Gabrielle Mullarkey
joining our team of professional tutors.
We hope that there is something for
everyone in our mixed bag of events and
would encourage you to try something
new. Make it one of your resolutions!

The Vanishing Man
This is a show about magic. But
it’s not a magic show.

deconstruct and rebuild every
trick I’ve ever seen. Except this

Hugo Cedar was an Edwardian
magician known as “The
Vanishing Man”; he created
the perfect trick and then
disappeared forever, but his story
lives on…

Apollo Theatre Company

Anniversary Tour
“Oh, Mr Horne! How bona to vada
your dolly old eek!”
From 1965 to 1968 there wasn’t a
bigger radio programme in Britain
than the ground-breaking Round
the Horne. For half an hour every
Sunday afternoon, audiences of
up to 15 million people would
gather around the wireless to
listen to Kenneth Horne and his
merry crew get up to all sorts of
mischief.
With its infamous movie spoofs
and hilarious regular characters
such as Rambling Sid Rumpo,
Charles and Fiona, J. Peasemold
Gruntfuttock, and Julian and
Sandy, Round the Horne was
one of the biggest and best radio
comedy shows of all time and still
endures today, 50 years on.
Come and take a step back in time
to the BBC’s Paris Studios and
experience this comedy classic

A Play in a Week
with Creation Theatre
Encouraging, sharing, inspiring
Join the Creation Theatre team this half term as we
put on A Play in a Week. We’ll take our pick from
classic stories and Shakespeare, and work on the

learning new drama skills. Then on Friday, we’ll invite
friends and family to watch the final performance.

Paper Sculpture
- Owls & Robots!
with Lisa Broughton
Have fun creating and making your own owls and
robots.
You will use an assortment of decorative papers
which you will cut using templates provided. Lisa
will have some cut ready for you to use. By layering
these papers your owl or robot will have a character
and their wriggly eyes will bring them to life.
Once you have made a few, we will mount them onto
thick decorative ribbon with a hoop at the top so you
can hang it in your room! Suitable for 7-12 year olds.
