On behalf of Red River Recreation I would like to personally thank all of our sponsors and volunteers who made this year’s carnival a success. Your support and commitment to our community makes these events possible and helps to bring our community together. Thank you! This year saw the return of our annual Cardboard Toboggan Contest where the entries and creativity get better each year! The winner of the Best Sled Design went to Ashton Ihme with his blacked out helicopter. The winner of the Longest Distance Travelled went to Kyanna Froese with her super slick speed machine. Thank you again to all those who participated and we cannot wait to see what you can create next year! New to the festival this year was the Snow Sculpture Contest which saw fifteen different entries! First place went to the Breckon’s with their Snoopy Doghouse, second place went to the Ihme’s with their Car, and third place went to the Froese’s with their Turtle. We hope everyone had fun creating their works of art and participate again in 2018! Thank you again to everyone who was involved with this past weekend and to everyone who came out and took in the events. Red River Recreation sure had a blast and we hope everyone else did too! Morris’s own man of the ice, Allan Gitzel participating in men’s competition. Allan is responsible for installing and maintaining the ice at the Morris Curling facility. I wonder if knowing how to make good curling ice gives him an advantage? I’m not going to make any quips regarding curlers. The last time I commented about curlers being picky about their ice, a petition was almost started to get me drummed from town. Did you notice how the article opened with curling, moved to drumming, touched on curling and then finished with drummed? The creative writing club I have been attending every month, at the Morris Library, is sure paying off. The club is looking for new members. For schedule information contact the library. Cheryl did make an appeal for another public announcement. Pickleball is a sporting activity held every Thursday’s at the Morris School’s small gym from 7:00-9:00 pm. Pickleball is a racquet sport that combines elements of badminton, tennis, and table tennis. Two, three, or four players use solid 17022gm8 paddles made of wood or composite materials to hit a perforated polymer ball, similar to a wiffle ball, over a net. The activity is open to individuals 18+ years and older who are looking for fun fitness activity in the community. No experience needed. Equipment provided. If you stop by the event, can you tell my wife to pick up some chips on the way home. She takes in the evening each week. Without some chips in the house, I won’t be able to do my arm curl exercises while watching the hockey game.
