CHAIR (Senator Paterson): I declare open this meeting of the Senate Finance and Public Administration
Legislation Committee. Today the committee will begin its examination of the additional estimates for 2016-17
for the parliamentary departments, the Prime Minister and Cabinet portfolio, the Finance portfolio and crossportfolio
Indigenous matters. The committee may also examine the annual reports of the departments and
agencies appearing before it. The committee has fixed 13 April 2017 as the date for the return of answers to
questions taken on notice. The committee's proceedings will begin today with the parliamentary departments,
followed by the Parliamentary Service Commissioner. We will then proceed to outcome 1 of the Department of
Prime Minister and Cabinet. At 5pm we will begin the Australian Public Service Commission, followed by the
Office for Women with Minister Cash. At 8pm we will examine the secretariat to the Remuneration Tribunal,
followed by the remaining agencies within the portfolio as listed on the program. Outcome 2 of the department
will be examined on Friday at the cross-portfolio hearing. I note that the Australian National Audit Office will be
