AWARD<br />

CITY OF WANNEROO AUSTRALIA DAY AWARD WINNERS<br />

For the fourth year in a row, the<br />

City of Wanneroo hosted Australia’s<br />

biggest citizenship ceremony on<br />

Australia Day.<br />

Some 800 residents from 49 different<br />

countries received their Australian<br />

citizenship on the iconic day.<br />

Winners of the Australia Day Awards<br />

were also announced, recognising<br />

residents who have made outstanding<br />

contributions to their local community.<br />

The Charles Searson Australia Day<br />

Youth Award went to 15 year old<br />

Alicia Tavani who has worked<br />

consistently within the Wanneroo<br />

community as an ambassador for issues<br />

such as bullying and conservation.<br />

The Australia Day Individual Award was<br />

awarded to City of Wanneroo pioneer,<br />

Carmela Sinagra, who was a founding<br />

Mayor Tracey Roberts with Australia Day Award winners Carmela Sinagra, Alicia Tavani and members<br />

from the Two Rocks Yanchep Assisted Cancer Travels Inc.<br />

member and remains the driving force<br />

behind the Antonian Senior’s Group<br />

in Wanneroo, which has been running<br />

for more than 25 years to help seniors<br />

socialise.<br />

The Australia Day Community Group<br />

Award went to the Two Rocks Yanchep<br />

Assisted Cancer Travels Inc. who<br />

provide a valuable local service to<br />

residents diagnosed with cancer.<br />

ANZAC<br />

LOCAL ANZAC DAY CEREMONIES<br />

Anzac Day is one of Australia’s most<br />

important national occasions.<br />

It is the day on which we remember<br />

all Australians who served and died in<br />

war and on operational service.<br />

Students from schools in the City of<br />

Wanneroo will take part in Anzac Day<br />

services to be held at several locations<br />

on Tuesday 25 April.<br />

WANNEROO RSL SUB BRANCH<br />

Dawn Service at Memorial Park<br />

5.45am. Parade from 7am with<br />

gunfi re breakfast to follow.<br />

an 11.30am start at National Park.<br />

ROADS<br />

EASTER BLESSING OF THE ROADS<br />

The City of Wanneroo will once again<br />

highlight its commitment to road<br />

safety at this year’s Blessing of the<br />

Roads ceremony.<br />

The annual event, promoted by the<br />

Western Australian Local Government<br />

Association’s RoadWise program,<br />

aims to encourage road safety<br />

awareness for motorists, cyclists and<br />

pedestrians travelling during the busy<br />

Easter period.<br />

The ceremony will take place on<br />

Monday 3 April <strong>2017</strong> at the City’s<br />

busiest intersection, Wanneroo Road<br />

and Joondalup Drive.<br />

The City’s Driver Reviver facility<br />

will be located on Indian Ocean Drive,<br />

one kilometre north of the<br />

City of Wanneroo boundary on<br />

Easter Monday, 17 April, from<br />

8am to 4pm.<br />
