The Portuguese Outer Church, now named Gereja Sion, is situated in Jl. Pangaran
Jayakarta. This long street is one of the oldest roads outside the old city, in the 17th
century it was very fashionable because of its rich country houses in the mids of big
gardens. The church was built between 1693 and 1695 by VOC authorities and was
used mainly by Mardijkers or freed Portuguese-speaking slaves. It still exists today as
the oldest surviving Dutch building in Jakarta and is still used for its original purpose
by the Protestants. - 250 numbered copies printed.
