Throughout the academic year, <strong>River</strong> <strong>East</strong> Collegiate assists students with information regarding awards,<br />

bursaries <strong>and</strong> scholarships that have been donated by corporations, community organizations <strong>and</strong><br />

individuals. These awards cover the specific request of the donors <strong>and</strong> are intended to assist students who<br />

have shown outst<strong>and</strong>ing abilities in academic or vocational areas <strong>and</strong>/or in need of financial assistance.<br />

As scholarship opportunities become available throughout the year you will need to regularly check the<br />

student announcement folder on your desktop or drop by the guidance office <strong>and</strong> browse the scholarship<br />

Definition of Terms<br />

An Award usually involves multiple criteria such as academic achievement, demonstrated<br />

Alpha Omega Women’s Alumnae<br />

<strong>Bursaries</strong> valued at $500 each are available to women of Ukrainian heritage who are entering full-time<br />

Alpha Phi International Women’s Fraternity Alumnae<br />

<strong>Scholarships</strong> valued at $300 are available to young women that have demonstrated a high level of<br />

Business Council of Manitoba Aboriginal Education <strong>Awards</strong><br />

<strong>Awards</strong> of up to $3,000 for university <strong>and</strong> up to $1,500 for college are available to persons of Aboriginal<br />

ancestry who are Canadian citizens <strong>and</strong> Manitoban residents who are presently enrolled or planning to<br />

enroll in a Manitoba public post-secondary institution in any program. You must maintain full-time<br />

Carpathia Credit Union Scholarship<br />

<strong>Awards</strong> of $1,000-$1,500 to graduating students with a high academic st<strong>and</strong>ing, have participated in<br />

extracurricular activities at school, within the Ukrainian community, <strong>and</strong> the community-at-large. Any<br />

students that will be graduating in June, are members of the Carpathia Credit Union <strong>and</strong> are planning on<br />

CBC Radio-Canada<br />

The CBC Diversity Manitoba scholarships valued at $500 each are available to students interested in<br />

be in their final year of high school, present a minimum of 70%, live in Manitoba at the time of<br />

Elijah Harper Scholarship <strong>and</strong> Elizabeth Hill Memorial Award<br />

The board of directors of Ma Mawi Wi Chi Itata Foundations Inc. /Children’s Legacy Fund presents the<br />

above scholarship <strong>and</strong> award. All applications must include a written report as to why the student should<br />

receive this scholarship/award, along with a transcript of marks. Deadline for applications is June 13 th .<br />

Geoff <strong>and</strong> Regan Archambault Scholarship<br />

Geoff <strong>and</strong> Regan from Century 21 Advanced Realty have created a scholarship in the amount of $500 to<br />

be awarded to a student from each of the following schools; Miles Mac, Kildonan <strong>East</strong> <strong>and</strong> <strong>River</strong> <strong>East</strong>.<br />

Garfield Weston Merit Scholarship for Colleges<br />

Hal Rogers Endowment Fund’s bursaries valued at $ 1,000 was established to promote, encourage <strong>and</strong><br />

learning at a recognized post-secondary institution. To be eligible, students must be a Canadian citizen or<br />

Jimmy King Memorial Scholarship Trust<br />

Mark & Dorothy Danzker <strong>Scholarships</strong> of Excellence<br />

The Manitoba Foundation for Sports<br />

This scholarship program administered by Sport Manitoba was established to support young athletes of<br />
