KTH, The Royal Institute of Technology in Sweden, is one
of Europe’s most prominent technical Universities, internationally
recognized for its world-class research and education.
The university is located in Stockholm, the capital of
Sweden, a beautiful and lively city. Stockholm hosts many of
the leading European information technology companies.
The Program
The Master of Science program in Systems, Control and Robotics is taught in English
and the theme is the analysis, design and construction of complex systems. The
curriculum consists of courses from both the School of Electrical Engineering
(EES) and the School of Computer Science and Communication (CSC) to give the
broad background that is needed to understand and work with complex systems
such as robotic systems.
The program is 2 years long (120 ECTS) divided into 1.5 years (90 ECTS) of fulltime
course work and a one semester Master's thesis project. Besides the technical
courses project management and research methodology are also included in the
curriculum to prepare for a successful future career, in academia or industry.
Course work
The program starts with a number of compulsory courses to assert a certain level of
knowledge in the core areas of the program. Following these courses the students
can specialize their studies further.
Thesis Project
A Master's Thesis project is carried out during the second year. Typically, the preceding summer is used to
prepare for and specify the thesis project. The thesis project is carried out in the area defined by the courses
taken during the first year of the program. The project can be performed either in industry, at a KTH department,
or in another technical university or research institute.
