How to Apply
WELCOME
Thank you for your interest in the post of Headteacher
at Cotgrave Candleby Lane School.
This is a rare and exciting opportunity to lead a nationally
recognised outstanding school, a large primary Teaching
School, which sits at the heart of the Flying High Trust.
The school is situated in the Borough of Rushcliffe in
Nottinghamshire. Our school prides itself on the
partnerships we form within our community and the high
expectations we set for all our children. We expect high
standards of behaviour and ensure children are engaged in
exciting learning opportunities that challenge their thought
processes and experiences.
Cotgrave Candleby Lane School is the founder member of
a partnership of like-minded Nottinghamshire academies
who are leading the way in a truly self-improving school
system. We converted to academy status and formed the
beginnings of the multi-academy trust (MAT) in 2012. Since
then, FHT has grown to sixteen schools, with several more
expected to join in 2016-17 and beyond.
Our children and staff thrive in a collaborative way of
delivering primary education. This post is an opportunity for
us to recruit a Headteacher who has the ability and
ambition to ensure that Candleby Lane maintains not just
its ability to deliver outstanding education and wider
community engagement but builds on this success to
ensure the school continues to strive for improvement and
for the right candidate, could offer the potential to take on a
system leader role in the future.
Our NOR has now reached 675, with numbers rising
steadily as local demand for places has increased and our
catchment draws widely from the local area.
Candleby Lane has had huge investment in building
developments; the school was a new build in 2008. The
onsite resources are phenomenal and include a radio
station (broadcasting to 70,000 across the Vale of Belvoir),
a recording studio, farm and astropitches, all of which are
utilised by the local community. Community engagement is
key to our success.
Our staff team is made up of highly experienced and well
respected practitioners boasting many Specialist Leaders
of Education (SLE); we train our own teachers, nurture
them, talent spot and ensure we enable all members of our
team to fulfil their potential.
We seek an ambitious Headteacher who shares our values
and ambitions, and who has the vision, drive, resilience and
experience to build on our success to date and continue our
journey both within Candleby Lane and across the wider
Trust partnership. This person will need to be outward
facing to establish a strong relationship with parents and the
local community and have the ability to share and learn from
best practice whilst knowing how to exploit the partnership
opportunities we have within the MAT.
This is an incredibly exciting time for Candleby Lane and a
real opportunity to be part of many future successes as we
continue to move forward on this rapid journey.
We look forward to receiving your application.
OUR SCHOOL
Cotgrave Candleby Lane School has a clear vision to
provide the highest quality of education for all children.
All children should achieve their full potential, make
outstanding progress - with the gaps between groups
narrowing - and have opportunities to explore a rich and
varied curriculum.
Children sit at the heart of every decision we make, guided by
our seven values: aspiration, confidence, creativity, fun,
perseverance, pride and responsibility. Our children feel
equipped to take on the world and believe that no dream is
unachievable - this aspiration goes beyond the school gate
and floods into our community.
We enjoy close links with our local community. Our children are
given responsibilities and are expected to act with compassion,
engaging in many local, regional and national activities.
We are proud of our pupils’ behaviour and leadership skills.
Currently we have a strong pupil council and representatives
on the Flying High Trust Parliament who truly shape the
development of both the school and wider Trust.
Our Board of Governors is well established, with a strong
team of professional parents, staff and community
representatives, led by a National Leader of Governance.
