LOCALIZAÇÃO E CARACTERÍSTICAS PRODUTIVAS DA FAZENDA O município de Botucatu, no qual se insere a Fazenda Agro, localiza-se no centro do estado de São Paulo. Com área municipal de 1.482,642 km², população estimada em 141.032 habitantes (em 2016) e densidade demográfica de 85,88 hab./km², inserese no bioma das florestas estacionais semideciduais, em altitude de 840 metros e clima subtropical úmido (‘Cwa’ na classificação de Köppen-Geiger). A ocupação das terras se dá com 95.430 há de área agropecuária, sendo 35.817 ha de lavouras temporárias (2006), com estimados 2.733 ha de milho em grão, 5.916 ha de soja, e 12.277 ha de cana-de-açúcar, entre as principais culturas; 13.138 ha de lavouras permanentes, sendo a mais importante a laranja com 5.021 ha; e pastagens, as quais ocupavam, em 2006, 18.510 ha de pastos plantados em boas condições, 3.030 há de pastagens degradadas e 11.247 ha de pastos naturais. Tal área abrigava, em 2015, um rebanho bovino de 48.988 mil cabeças, 8.490 cabeças de suínos e 2.532 cabeças de ovinos (dados do IBGE; www.sidra.ibge.gov.br). A Fazenda Agro situa-se às coordenadas 23º56’09” de latitude sul e , 48º27’42” de longitude oeste, a cerca de 675 metros de altitude. O estabelecimento soma 10 mil ha, sendo 2.500 em áreas de reserva natural, 2.000 em pastagens rotacionadas com lavouras anuais (principalmente soja e milho) e o restante dedicado à cultura do algodão, vinculada à qual opera uma moderna unidade industrial de seleção de separação do caroço do algodão. A estratégia produtiva favorece a integração da agroindústria com a pecuária, aproveitando-se a maior parte do caroço como volumoso na alimentação dos animais em confinamento, complementado com volumosos produzidos em rotação com as pastagens e concentrados energéticos adquiridos no mercado.
