Dreams of Employment
Begin With Goodwill
Training Programs
In 2011, Goodwill provided over 8,000 people job training and support.
Of those 1,704 were placed in jobs, saving nearly $15 million in discontinued
welfare and disability payments.
Warehouse & Logistics
Now in its second year, the Warehouse and Logistics program continues to
grow. This seven-week course provides entry-level and career advancement
skills for the manufacturing, warehouse, transportation and logistics fields.
Offered in partnership with Tacoma Community College, the faculty uses
interactive video technology/distance learning to connect students in the
Tacoma, Yakima and Longview Goodwill Opportunity Centers.
In 2011, the maximum numbers of students, 208, for both Tacoma sites were
reached – with 94% finishing the program and more than 65% of graduates
gaining employment.
Custodial Skills Training Program
In 2011, Custodial Skills added training for the hospitality industry. This
program trains students for employment in the hotel/motel field, with special
emphasis on restroom cleaning, general office cleaning, hard floor care,
carpet care and window cleaning.
In this past year 88 people were trained in the Custodial Skills program.
Participants come to Goodwill with a dream of employment and in 2011
68% were placed in jobs upon graduation.
