CHAPTER II.
HE British Druids compared the annual journey
of the sun to the duration of human hfe. He
is " born " at the winter solstice, and begins
his career as a child, called Hu Gadarn (Hcsus the Mighty),
OD December 22nd. At the vernal equiaox (March 21st)
he roaches maturity, and is then married to Mor'wyn, the
Earth ; described poetically as the Holy Maiden of the Sea
Foam, or Venus, otherwise Aphrodite. The result of their
union is the seed germs of the earth's ovary receiving from
him (the sun), the fertilising influence, and they instantly
begin to germinate. The process of development continues,
under the fostering care of the influence of the Father, by
the agency of the sun, and of Crd, through the agency of
Venus, Holy Maiden of the Sea Foam. The personified sun
