Spring Craft/Vendor Fair sees
range of items for sale at library
More than 1,000
people shop at
popular show

Those at the local library
last Saturday were able to
find much more than just a
new book to read.
Fifty crafters and vendors
offered everything from
jewelry to baked goods to
handmade soaps and lotions
at the Homer Township
Public Library’s fifth annual
Spring Craft/Vendor Fair on
Saturday, April 22. More
than 1,000 people passed
through the doors seeking
unique items for themselves
and to give as gifts.
Homer Glen resident Jane
Chiovare and her husband,
Brian, left with a variety of
purchases, including soaps,
lotions, paper products,
candy, designer envelopes
and a pre-order for the fall
show.
“It’s a nice crowd today,”
she said. “It seems
like it’s getting larger and
larger every year, and the
vendors are really nice
and friendly. A lot of them
are local, and there are so
many nice things here for
everyone.”
A unique benefit to
the library’s craft show
is that residents can also
find interesting reading
material while they do their
shopping.
“I have my book here,
too,” Jane said. “As I was
paying for my stuff, I saw a
book that I wanted, so I just
grabbed it.”

“And I bought a bow
with Peppa Pig for me,” she
said, beaming.
It was mission
accomplished for her
mother, Katie, who wanted
to bring Kora to the event
so she could pick out an
assortment of fun items for
herself.
Much of the appeal of the
library’s spring fair comes
from the fact that so many
vendors make their products
completely by hand.
Michelle Svee of Beads by
Chelle spends hours crafting
paper beads over the course
of several days to make one
bracelet. She offered many
eye-catching items, but one
design is her own personal
favorite.
