Festivals & Flowers<br />

The lucky kids of Dalston get their own flower<br />

show – but you don't have to be a Dalstonite<br />

to enjoy this fabulous event. This year kids can<br />

also join in the Dalston Children’s Festival, with<br />

events and activities taking place all over the<br />

neighbourhood on Saturdays 28 <strong>May</strong> and 4 June.<br />

On Saturday 28 <strong>May</strong>, children can bake their own<br />

pizzas in the Dalston Curve Garden’s wood-fired<br />

oven with chef David from Latto’s Pizzas (12-3pm),<br />

join textile artists Emamoke Ukeleghe and Yemi<br />

Awosile to make their own Botanical Bag, inspired<br />

by the garden and sow lots of lovely flower seeds<br />

to help keep the butterflies and bees happy this<br />

summer.<br />

for fun filled, interactive drama<br />

and storytelling sessions<br />

Dalston Flower Show for Children continues with<br />

free drop-in workshops for half-term holidays,<br />

Tuesday 31 <strong>May</strong> – Friday 3 June, 2-5pm.<br />

The workshops are free, but Dalston Eastern<br />

Curve Garden asks that you support their<br />

children’s programme by making a donation to<br />

help cover costs. The garden is at risk, so please<br />

do all you can to keep them going. More details at<br />

Baby Opera<br />

Yes, really! Fogonogo, an interactive opera for<br />

babies and toddlers, is on 20 <strong>May</strong> at the Museum<br />

of Childhood. It costs £8 per child, £2 per<br />

accompanying adult and £5 per extra adult. Book<br />

Dancing<br />

Toddler street dance, kids' ballet, Glee Club and<br />

Museums<br />

In <strong>May</strong> half term at the Museum of Childhood<br />

there will be workshops and free family activities<br />

inspired by the Rachel Whiteread’s celebrated<br />

artwork Place (Village). From 29 <strong>May</strong> to 2 June<br />

choose from print workshops, design your own<br />

colourful townscape and using block printing. £5<br />

per child, age seven-plus. Also, there's the Little<br />

Lantern Houses workshop, children aged four and<br />

above can create illuminated paper houses. £7.
