Project Management and
Development
By John Vincent Limos
Project management plans are
hard things to do, but proper
understanding about these would help
every person significantly in his/her daily
life. We have witnessed various types of
projects and activities, wherein we do not
even have a hint on how these were
actually planned. Like the NSTP activities,
these were planned beforehand by our
facilitators.
Activities and plans are simply
prepared for a specific reason and motive.
A sequenced group of plans that are
constituted to perform the tasks is called a
program. We may have this word a lot of
times but we never thought of how
difficult it could be to carry out programs
hosted by schools, government, private
institutions, etc.
Projects initiated by the NSTP
program have specific purposes related
with the betterment of the community.
Every event is carefully planned and
carried out from the day it was first
deliberated to the day it was held.
Alongside the importance of the purpose
of every project is its management.
Management is the planning, organizing,
directing, and controlling of the resources
available. Behind every successful project
is a well-‐managed one.
Beforehand, the managers of the
project should plan it deliberately in order
for them to secure the safety of its
participants and the organizers. This is one
of the many factors that are needed to be
considered for a well-‐planned event. In
creating your own plan, you should follow
the SMART mnemonics. It should be
Specific, Measurable,
Attainable, Realistic, and is Time-‐bound.
You should be specific with your goal and
stick to it until the end of the project. You
should also be able to measure your target
and be sure that your goal is attainable
before carrying out the project. You must
be realistic with the limitations offered by
your variables, like the venue, weather,
funds, and the like. And lastly, it must be
time-‐bound. It should have been
completed within a reasonable timeframe.
These are the things I have learned and am
imparting to you for successful project
management plans!
