Field Work
By Salma Shay Vallada
According to National
Geographic Channel, field work is the
process of observing and collecting data
about people, cultures, and natural
environments and is conducted in the
wild of our everyday surroundings.
For our first ever field work, we
went to Las Piñas-‐Parañaque Critical
Habitat and Ecotourism Area. We were
assigned to collect a particular kind of
trash. It took a bit of time to fill 2 sacks
of things made of plastic because
mostly they are small. It was tiring too.
But as soon as we finished cleaning up
our area, it was fulfilling.
There are too much garbage in
that place considering that it is a habitat
for some birds. We realized how much
we polluted and are polluting the
water. And it seemed like a lot of
people, mostly kids, take a bath there.
It’s sad that they don’t know how dirty
it is there. We hope that the
government would do something about
the existing problems regarding our
surroundings.
Us students can only be the
start of change and an inspiration for
others. We should make others aware
what a little piece of candy wrapper,
when piled up, could do to our natural
resources.
