Carlos Helmut
Carlos Helmut was born in 1948 in
Porto Alegre in the Brazilian State of
Rio Grande do Sul. He graduated in
Business Administration in 1975 and
for 18 years worked as foreign trade
manager in several machine and tool
plants. In 1983 Carlos started his
own business, manufacturing turned
wooden lamps for home decoration.
Since 1996 he has worked from home
as a freelance technical translator.
In 2003 Carlos started his artistic life
with ceramic moulding and painting.
In 2004 he entered the “Escola
de Arte São Paulo” (São Paulo Art
School) where he became proficient in
creating drawings using pencil and ink
and in 2005 he progressed to painting
on canvas. Since then, his works have
been shown in over 50 collective and
individual, physical as well as virtual
exhibitions and he has won many
awards. As visual art is the way he can
best express his feelings, he hopes to
be able to draw and paint for the rest
of his life.
