Elena Bissinger

Elena Bissinger, (née Oros) artist and poet and the eldest of 5 girls, was born on January 2nd 1964, in Beius, Bihor, Romania. Her father, a painter by
profession, nurtured her budding artistic talents and was her first mentor in the fine arts. Elena has painted since she was in middle school, and went
on to graduate from the Francis Hubik Oradea Art School and Faculty of Visual Arts Oradea. She had her first art exhibition in 1997 and, since then,
has continued to exhibit both at home and
abroad. Elena’s style and use of colour have
elicited reactions defining her work as being
full of optimism. Her energetic employment
of the palette knife is used to create tangible,
impressionistic flower paintings. In her
abstract work she uses sweeping strokes to
create images full of vitality thus exposing
her inner passions and thirst for life. Elena
was diagnosed with cervical cancer in 2008
which served to intensify her love of life and
her desire to express that passion through her
art and poetry. The challenges she has faced
as a painter conspire to give her more power,
dignity, and strength of character.
