BUCCANEERS
Brandan Roberts, President and Scribe
Wow! As I write this, the 64 th annual Shrine Circus has
already started in Lewiston. What a great way to start the spring
off as the last of the snow melts away and the warmer weather
sets in. For a while there it almost looked as if we’d be trudging
around in a foot of snow wearing our buccaneer outfits! The
Circus is kick-starting the year for the Buccaneers as we gear up
for the events and parades that will make up our summer. Now
is the perfect time to join our crew so you can be involved in
all the fun. We’re a family-orientated unit that enjoys meeting
and greeting the children attending the Circus as well as
various parades across Maine dressed up as friendly pirates. If
interested, contact any of the Buccaneers and we will be glad to
send you information and an application! We hope to see you
soon!
FLAG UNIT
by Bruce Fifield, Director/Scribe
Dear Nobles and Ladies,
We trust you have all had a wonderful winter and early
spring! As flowers bloom and trees turn green, Crazy Cops are
gearing up for another busy parade season with bundles of
anticipation. We are in the process of building two new carts,
courtesy of Able Power Rooter of Lewiston and Triple A Foam
of Greene. Another sponsor for a third new cart is also in the
works. Additionally, Crazy Cops are getting excited for the
upcoming Summer Ceremonial events in Skowhegan and the
NSA Fall Field Days events in Ottawa. We would like to welcome
our newest member, Jon Lizotte Jr., to our unit. Have a safe,
joyful summer season!
Congratulations to Illustrious John H. Gailey, our newly
elected Potenate and his lovely First Lady Phyllis. We look
forward to a great year and are here to support you and your
missions and stand ready to assist in any way we can.
As always, we are looking for new members who would
like to join our proud Flag Unit. Our roster is down to eleven
members, of which only upward to eight of us are able to march
at any given parade.
Our Treasurer Larry Grady has given notice that he can
no longer continue in this position because of health issues.
We are in hopes that a current member will be willing to step
forward and take over this role. This will be addressed at our
yearly meeting on Monday, May 1, 2017 at the Union Masonic
Hall at 7PM.
We will continue to do the good work we do as Shriners.
