1. This is a seven card stud game with a few variations. The cards
are dealt the same as for any seven card stud game, two down,
four up, and one down.
2. This is a split pot game. One half of the pot for the best five card
poker hand and the other half of the pot goes to the player who
has the highest spade in the hole. It is possible for one player to
win both parts of the pot.
3. The “Queen of Spades” is a key card in this game. If during the
dealing of the up cards, the queen of spades comes out, the
hand is dead at that point. The dealer collects all the cards. All
of the money previously bet remains in the pot. Players ante
again, and a new hand is dealt.
4. If the queen of spades does not come out, the hand plays out
and the queen of spades in the hole is wild. It “cannot” be used
as the highest spade in the hole to split the pot.
5. The killing of the hand and the redealing can only occur three
times. During the fourth hand, the queen of spades is wild,
either up or down, it cannot kill the hand.
6. After the final bet is over, players show their cards and the
winners are declared.
Variations:
A. The game can be played exactly the same way with
clubs being the key suit instead of spades.
B. The dealer may choose to call the game “Red Bottom,”
and have either hearts or diamonds being the key suit.
