ABOUT
PRECEPT MINISTRIES INTERNATIONAL
Precept Ministries International (PMI) is an international ministry that is solely focused on establishing people
in God’s word. The mission is pursued through training and bible studies. Started on a ranch in 1970 PMI
now operates out of 58 offices internationally; serving over 180 countries with materials and training in 70
languages. The ministry attracts nearly 100,000 new people a month to bible study with only 5,000 of them in
the USA. PMI is truly an international ministry!
PMI headquarters are in Chattanooga on a 32 acre campus with staff of 67. The campus can house 125 folks for
events and includes a 400 seat auditorium, TV and Radio studios and 6 classrooms that can accommodate 400
students. The kitchen and dining facilities feed up to 500 at frequent women’s conferences.
PMI’s study materials range from children’s to serious level adult studies requiring trained leaders and 5 hours a
week of homework. PMI currently has over 270 titles which are used in most Christian churches – ranging from
the Charismatic to the Presbyterians.
The 2017 total operating budget is approximately $12 million with revenues being $7.5 in donations and $4.5
in sales and registrations. PMI operates without debt and keeps at least 3 months operating capitol in the bank
at all times.

MISSION
PRECEPT DOCTRINAL STATEMENT
The Precept Doctrinal Statement summarizes Biblical truth that historically and doctrinally has been regarded
as essential to the Christian faith. Precept asks that all leaders be in full agreement with this statement.
THE SCRIPTURES
We believe (a) in the plenary verbal inspiration of
the Word of God, and (b) that both the Old and New
Testaments are inerrant in the original writings and
are the supreme and final authority for faith and life.
THE GODHEAD
We believe the Godhead exists in three Persons:
Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. These three Persons are
one God having precisely the same nature, attributes,
and perfections.
THE LORD JESUS CHRIST
We believe in (a) His eternal existence as God, (b) His
Incarnation and Virgin Birth, (c) His death on the cross
as the substitutionary atonement for sin, (d) His literal,
bodily resurrection from the dead, (e) His present
ministry of intercession in heaven, and (f) His personal,
future return to earth.
THE HOLY SPIRIT
We believe that the Holy Spirit, the third Person of the
Godhead, convicts men of sin, regenerates, baptizes,
indwells, seals, and sets apart believers unto a holy
life; that He keeps and empowers believers day by
day; that He is the Teacher of the Word of God and the
Guide for daily living.
MAN
We believe that (a) man was created innocent and
pure, and (b) Adam fell through the sin of disobedience.
Therefore, (c) all men are corrupted in body, soul, and
spirit; and (d) all men need redemption.
SALVATION
We believe that (a) salvation is by grace, a free gift
of God apart from works, (b) salvation involves
repentance, a change of mind in respect to God and
thus turning from one’s own way to God’s way, (c)
salvation is through personal faith in the Lord Jesus
Christ, (d) all who receive Jesus Christ are regenerated
by the Holy Spirit and become the children of God, and
(e) true salvation will be manifested by a changed life.
THE FUTURE
We believe (a) in the personal, visible, bodily return
of Jesus Christ to earth, (b) in the bodily resurrection
of the just to the eternal abode in the glory of God’s
presence, and (c) in the bodily resurrection of the
unjust to judgment and everlasting punishment in the
lake of fire.

THE OPPORTUNITY
The Executive Director will have an integral seat at the table with senior leadership in thinking strategically
about how the domestic and international reach of PMI can continue that growth.
At the same time, the CEO role and responsibilities of David Arthur have become more external, requiring David
to travel more and be more external facing. The addition of the Executive Director position will allow David to
make his best and highest contribution to the ministry while providing internal leadership to the organization.
The Executive Director will profess a personal commitment to Christ as demonstrated by active involvement in
a community of faith and demonstrated spiritual growth. S/he will lead the strategic, ministerial and leadership
responsibilities to ensure that the mission and critical objectives are fulfilled. The Executive Director will rely
on extensive experience and judgment to lead the team to plan and execute strategic and operational plans.

EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
THE PERSON
The right person for this role will have a maturing Christian faith that informs and shapes all dimension of his/
her life, demonstrating the ability to lead through a spiritual framework and integrate Biblical principles in the
work place and in work relationships.
We are looking for someone with broad experience in the full range of business functions and systems, including
strategic planning, budgeting, business analysis, finance, information systems, and human resources.
THE POSITION
The Executive Director reports to David Arthur, the CEO. Current direct reports to the Executive Director are:
• Vice President of Content
• Vice President of Operations
• Chief Development Officer
• Chief Financial Officer
• Human Resources Director
The Executive Director is expected to provide strategic leadership in developing long-term ministry initiatives
that will advance the mission of the Precept Ministries International and produce effective results. This vision
must be translated to clear goals and objectives and effectively communicated to all staff.
Responsibilities include but may not be limited to:
• Driving planning and execution of plans across the ministry’s physical facilities, human resources,
information resources, and financial resources.
• Leading major ministry improvement projects and/or capital efforts including reorganization activities as
well as planning, design, construction and habitation of new or remodeled facilities.
• Overseeing the Human Resources department in regards to: recruiting and selection, hiring and
termination, training, professional development, mentoring, counseling, performance evaluations, and
salary planning.
• Oversight and management of all legal contracts and documents of the Ministry.
• Participating as an integral part of the leadership team in setting goals for the organization and more
importantly, developing a realistic business plan to support these goals and objectives
• Building a staff of all levels of experience who have the vision, background, skills, motivation and
spiritual maturity to enable Precept Ministries International to meet or exceed their critical objectives in
a cost-effective, timely manner.

DESIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS
• Demonstrated success in business, government,
military, missions, publishing, etc., leading a team
of 50+ employees and overseeing an operations
budget in excess of $10M.
• Multi-year experience in personal Bible Study as
either a teacher or a student.
• An understanding and demonstrated ability to
apply practical Biblical and theological concepts
in missions
• Team leadership experience - able to build and
lead teams of diverse people and backgrounds
• Willingness to participate actively in Precept
Inductive Bible Studies
• Five to ten years of executive leadership or
related experience
• A bachelor’s degree; preferably an advanced
degree
DESIRED PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS
• Spiritual maturity, spiritual discipline,
and integrity – Strong personal faith, passion to
do God’s will, should reflect honesty, flexibility
and humility. Must be fully yielded to God.
Demonstrates a passion for God’s word.
• Interpersonal Skills – This person is outgoing
and easily engages people; listens well and asks
good questions.
• Results-orientation – Our ideal Executive
Director possesses strong leadership abilities
coupled with solid business knowledge, being
results oriented. This individual has proven
project management skills and leads by example
and is successful in planning, directing, reporting
and overseeing projects.
• Relationship building skills – This person will
have the gifts and desire to increase the impact
of PMI, build relationships with new and current
network leaders, and inspire new Precept
network leaders to join PMI. Is able to develop
and maintain healthy interpersonal relationships
with leadership at every level. The Executive
Director must always be relating, learning, and
leading by example.
• Passion for God’s Word and the Inductive Bible
Study method – The Executive Director will
constantly ask how best to move the Inductive
Bible Study method forward, someone wellread
in missiology, open to new ways of doing
things, can interact with mission and church
leaders around the world, someone who can
communicate the Precept philosophy and how
that can work out in individual ministries.
• Ability to develop and communicate
a vision – creating a vision, communicating that
vision to all stakeholders, setting a direction for
change, aligning the people who will make it
happen, energizing and motivating the people
and, finally, creating a culture of leadership.
LOCATION/TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS
The corporate offices of Precept Ministries International are located in Chattanooga, Tennessee. The Executive
Director will be expected to reside in the greater Chattanooga area. Travel will be 10-15% of the time.
