OVERVIEW
Chattanooga Christian School (CCS) is a Reformed Christian, interdenominational,
co-educational, day school nestled on 55+ acres at the foot of Lookout Mountain in
Chattanooga, Tennessee. In 1970, a group of people desired to build a distinctively Christian
school with a Reformed understanding of Scripture. That seed of an idea took root, and
over the past 53 years, CCS has grown into the largest private school in Chattanooga.
CCS currently enrolls a diverse population of 1,450+ students in the Lower School
(Preschool – 5th), Middle School (6th-8th), and High School (9th-12th), with programs,
support staff, and faculty for a range of student abilities. Students develop their creative
and physical gifts through a rich array of athletics, fine arts, and STEM opportunities. CCS
also offers a selection of summer day camps and specialty camps for students Preschool
through 12th grade. These programs encourage students to explore new disciplines,
interests, and hobbies and continue learning throughout the summer months.
God’s faithfulness has been most evident in the people He has called to CCS to teach
and disciple its students. Through their sacrificial efforts came the development of a
comprehensive, biblically integrated, Christ-centered curriculum and extraordinary
curricular and co-curricular programs. The CCS campus stands as a testament to God’s
faithfulness.
Over the past decade, CCS has invested more than $20 million in the 55-acre campus to
create spaces designed for life and learning and to increase a sense of belonging. This
includes the construction of new facilities such as a dedicated Lower School STEM room,
as well as repurposed facilities like Upper School science labs, robotics space, and student
spaces. The growth and change at CCS from the earliest days of the school has been a
clear testimony to God’s faithfulness and the sacrificial commitments of parents, students,
faculty, staff, administration, the Board, and countless CCS supporters.
CCS excels in delivering a quality education to learners from diverse backgrounds and
abilities. It achieves this through its Exceptional Education program, comprehensive
services offered by The Learning Center, and micro schools with small class sizes that
cater to the specific needs of underserved neighborhoods in Chattanooga. These tailored
programs effectively address a wide range of educational, emotional, and spiritual needs.

OVERVIEW
(CONTINUED)
The incoming Head of School of CCS will play a pivotal role in strategically assessing
the recent growth of CCS and continuing to build and deliver excellence through an
exceptional team. This individual must possess outstanding leadership skills and extensive
experience to effectively tackle the opportunities and challenges that lie ahead. First and
foremost, CCS is seeking a person of deep Christian faith and character, who cares about
people, relationships, and the CCS community. Secondly, the next Head of School will
focus internally on existing programs and priorities, seeking ways to continuously improve
in all areas, focusing resources wisely and prioritizing appropriately. Third, the next leader
will focus on and develop the faculty and administrative teams in light of recent growth,
making sure the team flourishes in all ways – professionally, culturally, emotionally, and
spiritually. Finally, CCS needs a leader who will continue to grow its strong reputation,
build external relationships, and cultivate donors to support new initiatives.
CCS’s next Head of School will focus on the five impact areas in the Strategic Plan to
which he or she will have the flexibility to suggest modifications as he or she sees fit:
1. Academic Culture and Scholarly Work, 2. Discipleship and Community Building,
3. Employee Recruitment, Development, and Retention, 4. Campus Improvements and
Master Planning, and 5. Innovative Programs. Through improvements in these areas, CCS
strives for the following outcomes:
• Robust student interest in high-quality, mission-aligned culture and work
• Engaging teaching/learning practices across all grade levels that are aligned to the
Graduate Profile
• Mission aligned biblical instruction and discipleship that promotes biblical literacy and
real world application
• Student life that represents the beauty and wholeness of God’s design for community
living
• Discipleship practices that engage students consistently in grace and truth
• An overarching sense of connectedness and belonging by all students, families, and
employees
Chattanooga is a vibrant, growing city, and families in the area are increasingly drawn to
the mission of CCS. The next Head of School will have the opportunity and challenge to
maintain and further this mission.

MISSION
To prepare students to LEAD AND SERVE with distinction while REPRESENTING CHRIST
and SEEKING HIS KINGDOM in all areas of the home, church, society, and culture.
PHILOSOPHICAL DISTINCTIVES
In the context of a strong home, church, and school partnership, CCS seeks to orient its
programs and practice around five philosophical distinctives.
1. GRACE-FILLED COMMUNITY
As God’s plan unfolds through human history, we see more clearly the nature of
our community defined through our vertical relationship with a Trinitarian God and
a horizontal relationship with humankind. CCS cultivates its community within
this context.
2. INTEGRATED CHRIST-CENTERED DISCIPLESHIP
Every learning objective, assessment, theater performance, athletic contest, art
project, and technological innovation fits within a context of God’s redemptive story
in Christ. Every academic struggle, relationship failure, and missed opportunity helps
us see our need to claim value through our inheritance in Christ rather than in the
glory of our performance. Every brilliant performance and excellent grade is then
an offering—given in gratitude, as an act of worship, to our adoptive King! Jesus
gives eternal meaning to all things, and our hope is that this meaning will be
evidently integrated in every person, program, and practice at CCS.
3. INDIVIDUAL STUDENT GROWTH
Each student’s accomplishments are important, and the bar is set high. In helping
students perform at higher levels, it is critically important to root them deeper in a
heart-level understanding of God’s design to serve him and his plan, not themselves.
A rigorous education that prepares each child to perform at high levels is not
complete without a fully integrated understanding of the love of Christ and one’s call
to use his or her developing gifts to worship Him. As the heart of each child grows
in its understanding of academics, athletics, and the arts, encompassed by God’s
redeeming love, the most complete learning is accomplished.

MISSION
(CONTINUED)
4. RIGOROUS CURRICULAR & CO-CURRICULAR PROGRAMS
The best learning experiences recognize the necessity of clear purpose, sound
practice, and challenging expectations. By God’s grace, CCS commits to the
highest standards in these areas in order that our students will reach their Godglorifying
potential.
5. TRUTH-BASED CRITICAL THINKING
Our efforts are intended to push students to search the Scriptures to see what is
true. We engage students with complicated ideas and worldly philosophies so
that their knowledge and faith can be cultivated and refined by fire, but in a safe,
nurturing environment. Critical thinking requires an understanding of absolutes
and the shades of gray in order to analyze and synthesize data and create informed
beliefs and opinions. CCS engages students in ways that push them to wrestle with
the complications of real life within a context that cherishes each person’s value
and calling in God’s creative design and purpose. The desired outcome is students
who can think seriously about difficult issues through the lens of God’s Word and
communicate clear thoughts, ideas, and solutions with the humility of Christ.
STATEMENT OF FAITH
» WE BELIEVE in the One God who is Triune: one in substance, eternally and simultaneously
Father, Son, and Holy Spirit; each divine person eternal, good, holy, wise, almighty, and
majestic.
» WE BELIEVE that out of the fullness of his love, the Triune God created all that is not God,
calling all he made good; this includes the creation of humanity, which was distinctly
made in the image of God and called to exercise dominion and care for the earth.
» WE BELIEVE that the one Triune God has faithfully, truly, and graciously revealed himself
so that we may know, worship, enjoy, and obey him.
» WE BELIEVE that humanity has received a distinctive invitation to explore, understand,
and delight in the mystery of God, his creation, and his ways.
» WE BELIEVE that humanity fell into sin through the actions of our first parents and that
all humanity is born into corruption and guilt. This sin severs human relationship with
God, pollutes relationships with one another, and defiles the earth.
» WE BELIEVE that God reveals himself at least partially through what he has made in
creation, and that we are called to engage in learning about and cultivating creation
both in obedience to God’s stewardship mandate and as a way of better understanding
God himself (General Revelation). God enables even those who persist in darkness
and rebellion occasionally to create works of immense beauty and to communicate
accurate knowledge about God’s world (Common Grace).
» WE BELIEVE that God’s inerrant and authoritative revelation is found in the Scriptures
of the Old and New Testaments, which are holy, reliable, trustworthy, and life-giving
(special revelation). The Bible is our only rule for life and faith.
» WE BELIEVE that Jesus Christ is the Word of God in the flesh whose person and work
is the Gospel itself; the Son incarnate is the one sent by the Father and testified to by
the Spirit.

STATEMENT OF FAITH
(CONTINUED)
» WE BELIEVE that the gospel is the good news of our Lord Jesus Christ, our representative,
who, in his virgin birth, in his sinless and perfectly obedient life, in his substitutionary
and atoning death on the cross, in his bodily resurrection, and in his ascension to the
right hand of the Father, was victorious over the enemies of sin, death, and the devil;
only in Christ crucified and risen is the debt of our sin paid and are we fully reconciled
to God.
» WE BELIEVE sinners are saved by God’s grace alone, through faith in Christ alone.
» WE BELIEVE that the Holy Spirit, who is present in all believers, works mysteriously
and powerfully to convict the world of sin, regenerate sinners, and equip them to a life
of faith and obedience that testifies to justification and sanctification by God’s grace
alone, through faith alone. Lives of faithful obedience are not a way to gain salvation
but are rather evidence of salvation secured by the Spirit’s work.
» WE BELIEVE that the people of the new covenant are united by God in the universal,
apostolic Church under the headship of Jesus Christ. The Church, as the body of
Christ, is called in this fallen world to glorify God and serve Him through the edification
of believers and the faithful proclamation of Christ and his kingdom. The Church is
privileged to serve as ministers of reconciliation in God’s plan to restore and unite His
creation under the headship of Christ.
» WE BELIEVE the identity of the body of Christ on earth is primarily perceived through
the local church. We believe that every individual who professes relationship with Jesus
Christ is called to be actively involved in a local community of believers that submits to
the authority of Scripture and is committed to Gospel ministry.
» WE BELIEVE in the glorious bodily return of our Lord Jesus Christ on the day of the
Father’s choosing to judge all humanity, the living and the dead, receiving the righteous
in Christ to eternal blessedness and the unrighteous to eternal condemnation.

THE CAMPUSES
The CCS Campus spans more than 55 acres at the foot of Lookout Mountain. It serves
the PreSchool, Lower School, Middle School, and High School. Click HERE for a virtual
campus tour.
PARTNER SCHOOLS
Beyond the CCS campus, CCS founded two neighborhood micro schools to provide a
Christian education in the greater Chattanooga area through The King School and The
Glenwood School. These K-5 micro schools enroll a diverse population of students and
are geared toward focusing on fundamentals. With small class sizes and individualized
attention, these neighborhood schools help students thrive academically, spiritually, and
personally.
THE GLENWOOD SCHOOL
The Glenwood School is a small neighborhood K-2nd grade Christian school located
east of downtown Chattanooga on the campus of New City Fellowship with one
class per grade, adding a grade a year up to 5th grade.
THE KING SCHOOL
The King School is a small neighborhood K-5th grade Christian school located in
downtown Chattanooga on the campus of Olivet Baptist Church with one class per
grade. See video HERE.
In addition to the two established micro schools, CCS is in advanced stages of planning two
additional off-campus schools to further extend its mission within the greater Chattanooga community.
PURPOSE POINT LEARNING ACADEMY
Purpose Point Learning Academy is a small proposed neighborhood Christian school that will be located northeast of downtown
Chattanooga. It will generally follow the micro school model of The Glenwood School and The King School by partnering with a
local church. The church will provide the physical plant in which CCS will operate the school. CCS will conservatively manage
growth by initially offering a kindergarten class and then annually adding one class per grade level through 5th grade.
PARTNERSHIP WITH HIXSON PRESBYTERIAN (“CCS NORTH”)
Similar to the micro school model, Hixson Presbyterian Church will provide the physical plant for CCS to operate a K-5th grade
school on its premises. Unlike with the micro school model which focuses on extending CCS’s socioeconomic reach, the intent
of CCS North is to extend its geographic reach. Therefore, CCS North will operate as a satellite campus of the existing CCS
Lower School.
