GREETINGS Dear Prospective Candidate, On behalf of the Chattanooga Christian School Board of Directors and the Head of School Search Committee, thank you for taking time to learn more about CCS. Our hope is that this Opportunity Profile will give you an accurate sense for who we are as a school and help you begin to evaluate your fit for and interest in this critical leadership role. CCS is a thriving community of over 1,450 students located in a growing area of downtown Chattanooga. Through much change and growth over our 53-year history, what has remained constant is CCS’s commitment, born out of our Reformed theological worldview, to prepare students to lead and serve with distinction while representing Christ and seeking His kingdom in all areas of the home, church, society, and culture. Over the years, we have been blessed to have leaders who have themselves served with distinction in the pursuit of that mission. We are now prayerfully asking the Lord to guide us as we look to identify the person who is best equipped to lead CCS into the future and help us continue to pursue that mission faithfully in the midst of a rapidly changing world around us. OVERVIEW Chattanooga Christian School (CCS) is a Reformed Christian, interdenominational, co-educational, day school nestled on 55+ acres at the foot of Lookout Mountain in Chattanooga, Tennessee. In 1970, a group of people desired to build a distinctively Christian school with a Reformed understanding of Scripture. That seed of an idea took root, and over the past 53 years, CCS has grown into the largest private school in Chattanooga. CCS currently enrolls a diverse population of 1,450+ students in the Lower School (Preschool – 5th), Middle School (6th-8th), and High School (9th-12th), with programs, support staff, and faculty for a range of student abilities. Students develop their creative and physical gifts through a rich array of athletics, fine arts, and STEM opportunities. CCS also offers a selection of summer day camps and specialty camps for students Preschool through 12th grade. These programs encourage students to explore new disciplines, interests, and hobbies and continue learning throughout the summer months. God’s faithfulness has been most evident in the people He has called to CCS to teach and disciple its students. Through their sacrificial efforts came the development of a comprehensive, biblically integrated, Christ-centered curriculum and extraordinary curricular and co-curricular programs. The CCS campus stands as a testament to God’s faithfulness. Over the past decade, CCS has invested more than $20 million in the 55-acre campus to create spaces designed for life and learning and to increase a sense of belonging. This includes the construction of new facilities such as a dedicated Lower School STEM room, as well as repurposed facilities like Upper School science labs, robotics space, and student spaces. The growth and change at CCS from the earliest days of the school has been a clear testimony to God’s faithfulness and the sacrificial commitments of parents, students, faculty, staff, administration, the Board, and countless CCS supporters. CCS excels in delivering a quality education to learners from diverse backgrounds and abilities. It achieves this through its Exceptional Education program, comprehensive services offered by The Learning Center, and micro schools with small class sizes that cater to the specific needs of underserved neighborhoods in Chattanooga. These tailored programs effectively address a wide range of educational, emotional, and spiritual needs.
