TEAM PROFILE
Slovenia became the last team to qualify for the Women’s EHF EURO 2016,
through qualification as the best third ranked team.
In total, Slovenia have qualified for four previous World Championships and
four EHF EURO events, not counting the upcoming one, but they failed to make
it to the EHF EURO 2014 and the World Championship 2015. The last time
Slovenia were part of a major event was at the EHF EURO 2010 in Denmark and
Norway when they finished last.
The best result on a EURO level was 9 th in 2004. Now it is the job of Uros
Bregar, who took over the team just before the beginning of qualification, to
rebuild a team with only a small number of experienced players such as captain
Nina Jericek, on the one hand, but with promising young guns like Polona Baric,
Tamara Mavsar and Ana Gros, on the other.
