Discussion
Questions
Discuss the following questions based on
the group’s reading from the first chapter.
While the larger group setting may not
give everyone an opportunity to share, it
will allow for those in attendance to hear
from diverse members of the group and
should create a sense of community and
shared frustration with the normative
operating system. You, as a leader, will have
to be diligent to make sure you keep the
conversation moving, avoid mere church
bashing, and prod people to go further
than mere deconstruction to dream about
a better reality for the church in North
America.
[1] What forces and voices perpetuate the
OS of church growth? How do you, as a
leader, feel the pressure for growth in
your ministry?
[2] What types of Apps do you see used in
the church today? Which ones are most
effective? On which operating system
are they running?
[3] What are we doing, as church leaders, to
perpetuate this faulty operating system?
What would need to change in order
for a better operating system to take its
place?
Part III: Deepening the Conversation
Discussion of the final question in the
preceding section should allow you a
perfect segue into the four practices
outlined below.
